• Review: The Sufferings of Shem by Zvi Preigerson
Hebrew writer Zvi Preigerson (1900–1969) lived and worked in the Soviet Union. In the most difficult years of Soviet anti-Semitic policy he remained devoted to the literature of the forbidden language, Hebrew. His writings were illegally taken to Israel and published there under a pseudonym. In 1999, the collection of his short stories was published in St. Petersburg in Russian translation. The magazine's article underlines the fact that the book is very important for the new generation of Russian Jews that knows little about Soviet Jewish history.
